Upgrading traditional windows and doors

TQ12  |   Rosemount

Replacing and upgrading traditional windows and doors is complicated and risky. We can ensure you pay once and get the best value. At Rosemount, we optimised the proposals to be energy efficient, sustainable, and meet modern performance expectations whilst looking good and deepening appreciation of the historic Grade II-listed building.

Replacement window and door designs enhance and maintain the property's historic character. In terms of repairs and upgrades to the existing windows, only 10% of the total heat loss through the building envelope is attributed to glass, while 15% is lost through draughts and draught-proofing. Draught proofing is straightforward and cost-effective. We also prefer an elegant secondary glazing system that is nearly invisible from within. Combined with traditional heritage glass (wavy/distorted surface character), we have optimised the proposals to improve the existing windows, ensuring they appear authentic while being energy-efficient, sustainable, and meeting modern performance standards. Moreover, utilising the internal Victorian timber shutters and heavy curtains at night offers the same thermal performance as double glazing. The combination of these proposals is highly effective, and the client values the authentic use of the property’s period features

Upgrading/replacing traditional joinery need not be at the expense of aesthetics, energy, maintenance or user comfort. It need not cost the earth either. We seek to find the best value for our clients. Sometimes, that is not the lowest cost. We help our clients by optimising the designs for their specific needs and securing listed building consent. Our proposals use tried and tested products, and we can recommend trusted local partners to help deliver your project.

With our help, our clients' properties look great, and they continue to benefit from our value for many years. When it comes to your property, why settle for average advice? We’re here to help you.
